ASL stands for American Sign Language. It is the language of deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals both in the United States and Canada. Although some people speak and sign at the same time, be aware! ASL is a visual-spatial language, which means it uses space, body movements, facial expressions, mouth movements, AND signs!
